IPL PHOTOFACIAL
IPL PHOTOFACIAL
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL,) is an intense, visible, broad-spectrum light that heats and destroys brown spots, broken capillaries and sunspots on the face, neck and chest. IPL provides solutions for anyone who suffers from rosacea, sun-damaged skin and pigmentations, acne, broken capillaries (telangiectasias), skin freckles, liver spots, some birthmarks, skin pores, tiny spider veins, etc. IPL can be used for smoothing the skin's texture for encouraging new collagen and elastin fibers.
The laser light from the IPL passes through the epidermal top skin layer and penetrates to the dermal deeper layer, where blood vessels, pigment cells, and collagen are found.
With IPL the epidermis is unharmed, and redness and peeling associated with traditional laser skin resurfacing are avoided. There is a slight stinging sensation during the treatment, which subsides immediately after the procedure.

What Is IPL?
Intense Pulse Light IPL is an intense, broad-spectrum laser light treatment that heats and destroys brown spots, broken capillaries and sunspots on the face, neck chest and back areas.
An IPL Photofacial treats skin with quick, powerful flashes of laser light. This light penetrates below the epidermal later of the skin’s surface to target where brown discoloration lives. The heat then works to break down the skin's pigment into tiny particles, which either rise to the skin’s surface as scabs, or get carried away by the body’s lymphatic system. Using a single wavelength of light, IPL uses a flash of light in front of which filters are placed to filter out other wavelengths except those taken up by pigment and blood vessels, depending on the filter used.

How Long Does an IPL Photofacial Take?
IPL Photofacials take between 1-3 treatments to show significant results, but some patients see results after their first treatment. Photofacials can occur every four to six weeks.

What are the benefits of IPL Photofacial?
Over the first 7-10 days, the brown spots / hyperpigmentation will simply fall off and disintegrate. The skin's wound-healing response stimulates long-term tissue growth and leads to further brightening and tightening, with potential results that can last years.

How should I prepare for treatment?
There is some preparation required in advance of your treatment session. Avoid retinol or Retin-a for seven to ten days prior. Schedule your appointment around your monthly cycle or a time where the body will be less sensitive is also recommended.

Exercise the day before or earlier that day, but not later. work out, avoiding extreme heat and sun temperatures for ten days after the treatment. No beach, lake or home saunas.
We encourage client's to visit with little to no makeup, yet keep your face well moisturized as normal. If you’re worried about discomfort, let us know during your consultation. We’ll will provide a topical numbing solution so you feel less discomfort during your treatment.

How often or how many treatments will I need?
Almost all of our clients find that they only need 2-3 treatments per year to achieve their ideal aesthetic balance. However, people with aged skin or significant collagen loss may find they need more treatments spaced four to six months apart to achieve their desired aesthetic look. After this, we recommend monthly maintenance treatments of other services like microneedling to maintain their desired results and goals.

Your results depend on several factors, lifestyle and diet, whether you smoke, how often you expose yourself to intense amounts of sun/UV rays, your age, amount of water you drink and the current health of your collagen. You may still see results lasting two years from now, doesn’t mean you should only receive this treatment every other year.
We strongly recommend that our clients receive IPL Photofacials twice a year as part of their regular skincare routine to keep results active and consistent. That’s because this revolutionary non-surgical treatment encourages your body to produce new brighter skin, healthy collagen, and new growth within the skin tissue begins in several weeks and up to several months.

When will I see results?

What will I look like after IPL Photofacial?
The most common feeling reported are puffiness, soreness, redness, tingling or pins and needles sensation. If these sensations occur, it is perfectly normal and they will go away in a few hours possibly the next day.

What will my skin look like after the procedure?
Immediately after the skin is slightly red and minimally swollen, similar to sunburn. Over two to three weeks, any hyperpigmentation brown spots or freckles will darken and then flake off. Leaving the skin brighter and optimally subtly thicker.
IPL treatments of redness of blood vessels usually have minimal downtime, although some patients experience purple discoloration. Camouflage makeup can conceal any discoloration which usually resolves within a week.
After IPL therapy, it is especially important to completely remove yourself from any sun exsposure, wear sunscreen, a hat and to avoid any other faical treatment for at least 2-4 weeks to allow the skin to heal properly. This will also prevent discoloration or recurrence of sun damage, brown spots, and lines.
